The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Trim Guide

The world of Jeep Wrangler can get confusing pretty quickly. Not only are there a plethora of trim options (especially when you consider all the special edition models across the years), but there’s also the “limited” and “unlimited” labels. “Limited” refers to the Wrangler 2-door models, while “unlimited” refers to the 4-doors. The main differences between the “limited” and “unlimited” labels are how many doors they have and how much cargo space they offer. In addition to this, though, while many trims come in both Limited and Unlimited options, others are exclusively “unlimited.” Understanding these differences is important when you are on the hunt for a used Jeep Wrangler for sale.
Wide Variety of Used Jeep Wranglers
To better understand these two types of Jeep Wranglers and the array of trims available for both, we will break a popular model of used Wrangler, the 2020 model, which you can currently find used, and take a look at the array of trims it comes in. This should give you a better idea of what to look for when searching for a used Wrangler. If you are on the hunt for a used Wrangler, look no further than Honda of Newnan, your Honda dealer located in Newnan, GA. We welcome you to come down and take a look at our extensive selection of used vehicles, including plenty of Wranglers.
The Limited Jeep Wrangler
For the 2020 model year, there are 13 different Jeep Wrangler trims, and only 6 of them are Limited (2-door). 2020 Limited Wranglers include the Sport, Willys Sport, Sport S, Willys, Rubicon, Black and Tan, and Rubicon Recon trims. Let’s take a closer look at the Limited trims first.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport
This is your base-level trim. It’s got everything you have to have, like a Command-Trac 4×4 system, off-road-capable axles, and Bluetooth streaming capabilities with a Uconnect infotainment center. It comes with a standard manual 6-speed transmission, the traditional V6 engine (which is less fuel-efficient), and a Sunrider Soft Top. It also has manual windows and locks. You can upgrade to an automatic transmission, an I-4 turbocharged engine, and a hard top for an additional cost.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys Sport
This model is a bit more off-road-capable, combining some of the Sport trim’s features with some of the higher-end Willys trim’s features. It’s got standard 32-inch mud-terrain tires, heavy-duty shocks, rock rails, plus a black front fascia and Limited Slip Differential. While it isn’t as fleshed out as the full-on Willys trim, the Willys Sport is a more durable upgrade compared to the Sport trim. That said, it still includes Sport-specific basics such as manual locks and windows. This model can also tow up to 2,000 lbs.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport S
This trim unlocks a bunch of add-on features that are mostly focused on aesthetic appeal and entertainment. You can add LED headlights and fog lamps, a Mopar Doors-Off Mirror Kit that allows you to still have your side mirrors when the doors are removed, and Sun & Sound Package, which adds on a sunroof and a much better sound system. This model offers power windows and locks, unlike the previous two models. You’ll also get automatic headlights at no additional cost.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys
This one is the trim that’s worth upgrading to. It’s basically a smaller Rubicon that pays homage to the Jeep Wrangler’s early roots. It’s got everything that the Willys Sport trim has, plus better connectivity technologies and standard LED headlights and fog lamps. Heated power exterior mirrors are also standard on this model, along with deep-tinted windows and a standard I-4 turbocharged engine. This model can also tow 1,500 pounds more than the Willys sport with a max 3,500-pound tow capacity.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The high-end hardcore off-roader, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, comes with more off-roading capability than any other Wrangler out there (with the exception of the Unlimited Rubicon 392). If you’re looking for the most capable Jeep Wrangler Limited off-roader, this is it. This model comes with the Rock-Trac 4×4 system, which is Wrangler’s most capable “Trac” system. In addition to tackling mud, dirt, snow, and ice, the Rubicon can efficiently “rock climb” in places that no other Wrangler can touch.
This model includes locking front and rear differentials and a sway bar disconnect. While you normally want your sway bar connected during everyday driving scenarios, disconnecting it while you’re off-road allows the Wrangler to move more freely while also allowing for a higher ground clearance. In addition to offering the best stock crawl ratio of any other Wrangler, the Rubicon is also superior when it comes to technology. It has enhanced keyless entry, a larger, 8.4-inch Uconnect screen, and a standard Technology Group package.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon
If you like what the Rubicon offers but want to take it a step further, check out the Rubicon Recon trim. This model comes with red-colored seat belts, unique 17-inch wheels, and steel front and rear bumpers. It also has a standard turbocharged I4 engine instead of the less fuel-efficient V6 option. While you can technically find the Rubicon Recon Limited, you’ll see a lot more Unlimited Rubicon Recons on the market.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Black and Tan
These upgrades are exactly what you expect them to be—the Black and Tan trim is a black Jeep Wrangler with black wheels and a tan soft top. It has everything that the Sport S has as well, plus standard side steps, a dual-zone climate control, and automatic exterior lights.

The 2020 Unlimited Jeep Wrangler
If you can get the Limited version, you can get the Unlimited version. The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is available in all the aforementioned trims and also has 8 trims of its own, including the Sport Altitude, the Sahara, the Black and Tan, the Sahara Altitude, the Freedom, the High Altitude, the Rubicon Recon, and the North Edition. Most of the differences between these models have to do with aesthetics and space.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport Altitude
There’s not a whole lot that makes this model stand out. The Sport Altitude comes with standard 18-inch Gloss Black wheels. It also has a Wizard Black painted instrument panel, plus black interior accents. Its biggest perk is that you get the 3-piece Freedom hardtop at no additional cost.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
Think of this trim as the Unlimited Rubicon without extra off-roading stuff. This aesthetically-pleasing model comes with body-colored fender flares and black side steps. Plus, it’s got shiny, 18-inch Polished Aluminum wheels and an available one-touch power top. Like the Rubicon, this model gets the larger 8.4-inch infotainment system.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Altitude
In addition to all that the Sahara offers, this model comes with black leather seating, Bluetooth audio connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a three-piece hardtop. It’s also got black wheels and fog lamp bezels.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom
The special edition Wrangler Freedom trim includes many of the same features that you’ll see on the Willys trim. Essentially, this model is just a patriotic-themed Wrangler that includes American flag decals on the exterior, an Oscar Mike embossed logo, and star decals. It also has 17-inch gray wheels.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler High Altitude
This trim is the ultimate option for city-dwelling Wrangler drivers. Think of it as the luxury trim in the Wrangler lineup. It has all the available tech and safety features as standard features, including Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Park Assist, Premium Audio technology, and much more. This trim is pretty much the tech-savviest Wrangler around. It also has a beautiful interior with Nappa leather-trimmed interior and body-colored exterior accents.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler North Edition
There are Jeep enthusiasts in every corner of the world, which is why the special North Edition trim was released. Designed specifically with the arctic in mind, this trim caters to cold weather drivers. It has heated seating, a heated steering wheel, standard remote start, and standard Selec-Trac capability. The North Edition also includes all-weather floor mats at no additional cost. You’ll also get other fun, luxury-level perks, such as an Alpine audio system, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and more.

Limited or Unlimited?
Not sure which ride you need? With so many options, the decision can get overwhelming pretty quickly. If the Jeep Wrangler and its available options have piqued your interest, don’t hesitate to visit us here at Honda of Newnan, and we’ll be sure to find a Wrangler that is perfect for you. The perk to Limited Wranglers is that they’re incredibly easy to navigate. They’ll turn on a dime, and they’re easy to park and fit into narrow spaces.
Of course, the Limited Wrangler’s cargo space is quite literally… “limited,” so if you’re looking for more cargo and passenger space, the Unlimited Wrangler is the way to go. Plus, there are several more available trims that are unique to the Unlimited design, while no trims are Limited-only. If any of those unique trims fancy you the most, you’ll have to go with the Unlimited Wrangler. No matter which option you choose, one thing’s for certain—nothing performs like a Jeep Wrangler.
