2023 Honda CR-V Buyer’s Guide
Honda has staked out a position as a leader in the SUV marketplace, and the Honda CR-V is a big part of this success. The CR-V is Honda’s compact SUV with the space of a larger vehicle and the fuel economy and handling you’d expect in a compact. The name means “comfortable runabout vehicle,” but it doesn’t do justice to this model. Starting with the 1997 model, Honda has introduced five generations of the CR-V, with the sixth hitting the roads as the 2023 Honda CR-V. This update is not a knock on the model but just a realization from Honda that it needs to keep innovating and improving its vehicles. The CR-V is no exception. The key to Honda’s success is that it keeps upgrading its models while retaining all the elements that made you fall in love with them in the first place.
At Honda of Newnan, we are the place to go if you want a Honda CR-V For Sale. We carry a full lineup of new, used, and Certified Pre-Owned Honda models, including the CR-V. As an authorized Honda dealer, we can get you all the specifications you want on your CR-V, including the trim, engine options, and drivetrain.
Four wonderful trims to choose from
The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V features four different trims. The entry-level model is the EX, with a base MSRP of $31,110. This trim will give you all the features you desire in your CR-V. If you move up one level to the EX-L, you will get a leather interior and a larger touchscreen on the infotainment system. Both trims are equipped with a gas engine, while the other two are only available with a hybrid powertrain. The Sport Hybrid adds roof rails and sport styling to the basic CR-V package. The top trim is the Sport Touring Hybrid, adding a heated steering wheel and a premium audio system among the other luxury and comfort features that come standard on this model.
Two exceptional powertrains
Honda has equipped each 2023 CR-V with one of two different powertrains. The EX and EX-L models are powered by a 1.5-liter Turbocharged I-4 gas engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This is a 16-valve engine with a dual overhead camshaft design (DOHC). It utilizes Honda’s VTEC exhaust system and dual variable valve timing to deliver efficient performance. The engine features direct fuel injection, which helps this engine deliver an impressive 190 hp at 6000 RPM and 179 lb-ft of torque at 1700-5000 RPM.
The 2023 CR-V Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid are equipped with a hybrid powertrain utilizing a 2.0-liter Hybrid Atkinson-cycle I-4 gas engine combined with an AC motor. The electric motor is powered by a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is in turn recharged by the gas engine and regenerative brake recapture. The electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) works to blend the performance of the electric motor and the gas engine, providing a combined 204 hp at 5000-8000 RPM and 247 lb-ft of torque at 0-2000 RPM. The gas engine features multi-stage, high-pressure direct fuel injection.
Each of these engines will give you exceptional fuel economy. The 1.5-liter Turbo provides up to 30 MPG in combined fuel economy when the CR-V is equipped with front-wheel drive. The available Real Time all-wheel drive with Intelligent Control System reduces this slightly while delivering exceptional traction, especially in inclement weather. The Hybrid models are even more fuel-efficient, providing an impressive 40 MPG combined with front-wheel drive and 37 MPG combined with all-wheel drive. The Sport Touring Hybrid comes with standard all-wheel drive.
An impressive interior for a new generation
The designers at Honda have once again done an excellent job providing a roomy interior on the CR-V. You will get a spacious 103.5 cu.ft. inside the passenger compartment, regardless of which model you choose, which is especially impressive considering that two models are hybrids.
Honda has done an exceptional job of filling the passenger compartment of the CR-V with plenty of little features to make riding more enjoyable for you and up to four passengers. Plenty of cup holders are located throughout, so everyone can take along their favorite beverages. The front seats are all heated, which will come in handy on cold days. In addition, the seats on the Sport Touring Hybrid and the EX-L are leather-trimmed, as is the steering wheel and shift knob on all models except for the CR-V EX.
The CR-V also provides an incredible amount of trunk space. The rear liftgate opens up to a cavernous 39.3 cu.ft. of space, making the 2023 CR-V a great model for those who love taking road trips. If you need more space, fold down the rear row of seats to free up an exceptional 76.5 cu.ft. of cargo space. The CR-V is also a great model for folks who love shopping or need to pick up materials for home improvement projects.
Innovative technology for the next generation of Honda
Each 2023 Honda CR-V has the latest version of the Honda Audio infotainment system. This ingenious system mixes essential vehicle information with smartphone connectivity and an entertainment system. The EX and Sport Hybrid models feature a 7-inch touchscreen, while Honda increases this to 9 in on the EX-L and Sport Touring Hybrid. Bluetooth is included, so you can make hands-free calls without using a USB cable. Honda has also included Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can connect your smartphones to access all of your favorite apps.
The Sport Touring Hybrid model adds a satellite-linked navigation system to help you navigate through traffic. There is also a Qi-Compatible 15-watt wireless phone charger on the EX-L and Sport Touring Hybrid trims, allowing you to keep your smartphones properly charged.
The Honda CR-V EX and Sport Hybrid model have a 6-speaker audio system that delivers 240 watts of sound. The EX-L trim increases this to 8 speakers and 320 watts of power. However, the true audiophile will want the CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid model. The vehicle features a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system with a subwoofer, making your favorite music more enjoyable on your 2023 CR-V.
A legacy of standard safety
Honda has built a legacy of making some of the safest vehicles on the road. The 2023 CR-V is no exception. Each model has the standard suite of Honda Sensing driver assistance systems.
Some of these features are designed to reduce the chances and impact of a crash. Collision Mitigation Braking will automatically engage the emergency brakes if the system detects an imminent collision with another vehicle or pedestrian in front of your CR-V. The Road Departure Mitigation System will use slight steering adjustments to get you back in your lane if you cross over a lane line without signaling. The Lane Keeping Assist System will keep your CR-V centered in the lane if you remove your hands from the steering wheel. Each of these will help reduce the chances of getting into an accident in your CR-V.
The Honda Sensing system also has features to reduce driver fatigue. The Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow allows you to set a desired speed while on the highway. When the system detects a slow-moving vehicle in front of your CR-V, it adjusts the speed down until the vehicle exits. When this happens, it will return your vehicle to the desired speed. Traffic Sign Recognition will spot speed limit signs along the road and alert you to a change, allowing you to slow down so you can avoid getting a speeding ticket. Both of these features help reduce fatigue on long rides while keeping you and your passengers safe inside your 2023 Honda CR-V.
The next generation is today
The next generation of the Honda CR-V is back better than ever. With improved performance and fuel economy, a roomy interior filled with comfort, and standard advanced safety features, the 2023 CR-V has everything a driver could want in a compact SUV.
